There is a region that is called the “green heart” of Italy: small, right in the center, in bewteen the Appennini mountains, and with beautiful naturalistic sceneries.
This is Umbria and we want to tell you why it is worth paying a visit!
Castelluccio di Norcia is a little borgo in Umbria and famous all over Italy for its production of lentils. The peculiarity of the plain where they are cultivated, in between mountains, demands that many kinds of flowers have to be planted there as well in order to keep the difficult land ideal for the growing of the lentils. This creates the phenomenon of the beautiful blossoming of the lentils; from June to July, in waves, these flowers blossom and creates a colourful painting and an amazing spectacle that attracts people from all over the world. From the yellow of the sinapis arvensive, to the purple/blue of the “Venus’s-looking-glass”, and of course the red of the poppies.
It’s a beautiful party of nature where humans kindly and humbly ask to participate, remaining in owe.
This spectacle of nature is just one of the reasons to discover Umbria, the green heart of Italy.
