The cultural escape

After looking for the perfect spot to admire autumn, let’s find out about museums and cultural tips!

The cold months are approaching, along with the shortest days of the year.
Traveling during this season may mean fewer crowds in the cities but also earlier sunsets and less daylight to enjoy.

Here’s your guide to must-see museums that remain lesser-known to the public — perfect for when the dark and rain arrive!

Centrale Montemartini (Rome)

One of the most fascinating museums in Rome, and perhaps not as well-known as it deserves, is the Centrale Montemartini Museum. This museum not only preserves significant Roman artifacts, sculptures, and mosaics, but it also showcases décor and equipment from the industrial revolution, making it truly unique.

In the picture above is the Hendrik Christian Andersen Museum in Rome is a unique museum dedicated to the works of the Norwegian-American sculptor and painter Hendrik Christian Andersen. Located in the artist’s former studio and home, Villa Hélène, near the Villa Borghese, it showcases an extensive collection of Andersen’s sculptures, models, and drawings.

Salvatore Ferragamo museum (Florence)

Fashion might not appeal to everyone, but it’s undeniably a vital part of Italian culture. So why not take the chance to visit the Salvatore Ferragamo Museum? Running only until April 2025, this special exhibition dives into the inspirations and history behind one of Italy’s most influential fashion visionaries, who launched his career 100 years ago.

Museo del Novecento (Milan)

The Museo del Novecento in Milan houses some of the most iconic works of Italian contemporary art, including the one featured on the €0.20 coin. Located in a stunning palazzo, it offers not only an impressive collection but also breathtaking views of Milan’s Duomo and its bustling square. A cultural gem that’s truly unmissable in the heart of the city!
