Best activity
The perfect experience: evergreen, accessible in most cities, and a true gateway to the authentic flavors of a destination. Food tours take visitors to local shops, offering tastings that restaurants simply can’t. Exploring a place through its food markets and specialty stores unveils hidden gems known only to locals, making it the best way to truly connect with a city.
Best food
A fresh and innovative addition to the bustling street food scene in Rome, Trapizzino made its debut in the last years and is quickly carving out its place. This unique creation combines the simplicity of a (fried) sandwich with the authentic flavors of the destination, offering a variety of fillings to suit every taste.
Best event
We can’t overlook the event that takes place only once every 25 years: the Jubilee in Rome. This historic occasion not only draws pilgrims seeking a deeper connection with the heart of Christianity but also serves as an opportunity for the city to renew and enhance itself. Last year saw the completion of numerous construction projects, further elevating the timeless beauty of Rome.
And now, the most important categories
Best Town
One of the most underrated cities in Northern Italy, often overshadowed by the glamour of Milan and the charm of Lake Como. We’re talking about Turin, a city that captivates every romantic soul with its baroque palaces, elegant porticoes, and iconic squares, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of nearby mountains and hills. A hub of culture and history Turin is also the beating heart of Italy’s automotive industry. Turin is a hidden gem where history, elegance, and innovation come together, waiting to be discovered.
Best Borgo
We have yet to discover which borgo will officially win the 2025 edition of the “Borgo dei Borghi” competition, but our personal favorite is Borghetto sul Mincio. Straight out of a fairytale, this charming medieval village is nestled along the banks of the Mincio River, where history and nature blend seamlessly into a unique urban landscape. The iconic “Ponte Lungo” connects to the impressive Scaliger Castle, a striking medieval fortress, while the riverbanks offer a serene escape, immersing visitors in a tranquil, picturesque setting.
